My Articles

Here is where some of my best writing can be found with The U.S. Sun, Looper, and Strike Magazine. All of these experiences have been wonderful, I get to work with some of the most amazing people who excel in their areas of expertise. None of these articles would be what they are without them. Through The U.S. Sun, I continue to grow as a writer.

  • The U.S. Sun Interview: World-Champion Skydiver Kim Knor

    • A recent exclusive interview with Kim Knor, an 84-year-old skydiver, was one of the most special experiences I've had in my career thus far. â€‹â€‹â€‹Kim is an incredible human being — she told me about her experiences on the first-ever United States Women's Parachuting Team, and her goal to reach 1,000 lifetime jumps. Her exploits are detailed in the International Skydiving Museum & Hall of Fame.

  • Looper: Black Panther Wakanda Forever T'Challa Callback

    • This article was one of my best with Looper because it focused on the MCU, of which I have an expansive knowledge, but also because it focused on character analysis. Discussing the similarities between Shuri's decisions in the highly-anticipated sequel compared to T'Challa's was interesting and fun. It's an example of my analysis of film, and how much further it could go.

  • Christopher Nolan's Tenet: Suit Porn from the Costuming Department

    • A brief synopsis of the 2020 film and in-depth analysis of the suit choices by costuming director Jeffrey Kurland. Many critics were calling Tenet  "suit porn" because of the artistic decisions by Kurland. The main characters don striking outfits including pieces like the double-breasted jacket. This was my first fashion-oriented article. It helped me find my voice and a writing style that fit Strike Magazine's mission.

  • 4 Ways To Style Your Hoodie This Fall

    • At the time of inscription, the season was fall, October to be specific, which means that the climate was cooling and, even in Orlando, long sleeves were being worn. This piece aims to make suggestions to the Strike Magazine audience on ways to style a common and reliable long-sleeve option. I talked about athleisure, adding jackets, wearing it with shorts, and wearing it with a suit. At the end, I listed some general guidelines about hoodies themselves. This article was one of my first attempts at a sort of listicle-style piece. It was challenging at first to balance brevity and detail, but ultimately I figured it out and am proud of what it's become.

  • Self-Expression in the Face of Conformity

    • Written for the print issue of the University of Central Florida's chapter of Strike Magazine, this article seeks to connect with the publication's audience through personal experience. I intended to show how fashion can be a vessel for growth and discovery of one's own values and beliefs. In talking about my own struggles with acceptance, judgment, and conformist ideals within style, I show how that led me to not only appreciate my individuality but eventually gain the respect of those who used to criticize it. I'm very proud of the message this article sends and it really helped me learn how to balance a narrative tone with magazine structure and formatting.

  • Why Running Should Be Your Next Mental Health Essential

    • This article intends to briefly show the online audience of Strike Magazine the ways in which running can benefit not only their physical health but their mental health as well. It stresses the need for a release considering global stress was at an all-time high in 2020, and also gives readers some factual information from credited sources about the exact ways running can help them. It was nice to write about this as I have been an athlete and runner for years like most of my family, and I specifically got to expand from fashion into lifestyle writing. They are both genres of writing I seek to master.

  • Introducing You to Yourself, Courtesy of Loneliness

    • An article written for the newest issue of Strike Magazine UCF called "The Playlist". I wrote this with a specific theme in mind of self-discovery, overcoming struggles, and overall growth as a human being. It explores the feelings of loneliness and happiness through my own personal experiences and gives suggestions as to how to use loneliness to your advantage moving forward in your life. Writing this was incredibly fun and introspective, it meant a lot to me, and I hope anyone who reads it finds comfort and a new perspective.

  • Who Are You Surrounding Yourself With?

    • This is another article written for the print issue of the University of Central Florida's chapter of Strike Magazine. In this lifestyle piece, I attempt to connect with the publication's audience with personal experience again. Being from Wisconsin originally, coming to the University of Central Florida meant making new friends. The ones that I found showed me the subconscious pre-conceived notions and assumptions that I had about others, and through their own individuality, kindness, and style, they helped me become a better man. Hopefully, it sheds light on the effect the people in your life have on you. The process of writing this educated me more on lifestyle writing and the formatting it entails.

  • In Defense of Country and Country Music

    • The second article written and published in "The Playlist", Strike Magazine UCF's second issue released in April of 2021. This piece was also centered around a specific theme, that being of roots and how they affect us. My roots were country but northern country in Wisconsin. I wrote about my experience growing up there and how the values, ideals, and experiences continue to shape who I am as a person and how everyone can hold on to those while also continuing to grow. I also talk about the disassociation people make with country music and the Old South, how there's plenty of beauty, depth, and wholesomeness in country music and it should be appreciated.

  • Movies That Help Your Style: Winter Edition

    • An article for the Strike Magazine website written back in December 2020. This piece analyzes the costuming and fashion decisions for some favorite holiday movies and what we can learn from them with our own winter fashion. I aimed to help the Strike audience question their styling choices for the winter and experiment a little. â€‹

  • Josh Gluck: Aspiring Musicians in 2020

    • This was a very cool experience. I was tasked by our Editor-In-Chief to interview Gluck, an up-and-coming musician from Florida, on everything he was doing to continue bettering himself as an artist and how he was continuing to make and release music during the pandemic. I got a lot of great insight into his process and who he is as a person. This piece is a little profile of him and everything he's doing to continue moving forward as a musician. It was also my first official interview for Strike, and I learned a lot about the process.
